Dallas County Jail Medical Facility,
Dallas, Texas
Profile: As one of the largest urban counties in America, the new medical jail modifications project is helping to change the way Dallas County handles its corrections business and the care of their inmates. The new design is shaping the delivery of medical, dental and mental health services. The Phase II plan for the Medical Facility improved the delivery of medical and mental health services to Dallas County Jail inmates to reduce the number of inmate transports to Parkland Hospital. The Phase included renovations and additions at the North Tower and the West Tower.
Services: Prior to the design, DataCom Design Group consultants performed a study of the existing facilities and a review of the programming documents as developed by the architectural planning team. Through meetings with the Owner and associated project members, the extent of facility needs and associated services was determined and a technology verification plan was developed to assist the Owner and design team in identifying low voltage communication systems to support the facility. The effort continued with a comprehensive design of the IT infrastructure (voice and data), wireless LAN overlay, audio and video communications, and CATV.
