Veterans Administration, Long Term Spinal Cord Injury and Mental Health Facility, Dallas, Texas

Profile: Dallas VA Medical Center (VAMC), the referral center for VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS), has cared for America's military veterans for over half a century. This facility is located on an 84-acre campus in downtown Dallas and consists of a 289-bed acute care Medical Center as well as a transitional care unit, domiciliary care unit, a small telemetry unit, a psychiatric residential rehab treatment program, and a spinal cord injury center which offers multidisciplinary care to a large number of veterans. Recently the VA has proposed a new 475,367 SF, 60-bed Spinal Cord Injury Facility, and Clinical Expansion for Mental Health.

 

Services: DataCom Design Group was selected to assist the VA and the AE team in the design and consulting all low-voltage systems including IT, AV, Security, Nurse Call, Acoustics, and Outside Plant connectivity for the new Spinal Cord Facility, which includes associated clinical and administrative support spaces and an 800-space parking garage, as well as the Clinical Expansion for Mental Health. In addition to the building design, DataCom provided a campus wide assessment of the communications utilities on the Dallas VA medical center campus to assist the VA in determining the locations and capacities of the outside plant system to support future buildings.
