Iowa National Guard Readiness Center, Middletown, Iowa

Profile: The acoustical environment in the Drill Hall at the Iowa National Guard was cacophonous making presentations incomprehensible and demonstrations unintelligible. The geometry of the spaces and the finish treatments to the interior surfaces resulted in excessive reverberation and echo. The spaces also proved difficult for presenting visual information due to inadequate sight lines. DataCom Design Group's acousticians made recommendations which resolved complex acoustical issues.

Services: DataCom Design Group consultants conducted sound isolation and field test analysis to determine the existing inadequacies. In consideration of presentation requirements, a noise criterion was established, and a room acoustics model was developed. A comprehensive report was produced detailing recommendations to achieve optimum acoustical parameters for the implementation of a successful project.
