Student Living and Learning Center, University of Texas, Dallas, Texaso

Profile: Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are groups of freshman students who share academic goals. Providing designated residence halls, community-specific courses and specialized group activities, UTD helps new students develop peer relationships quickly, and enjoy increased faculty interaction outside the classroom.

Although the spaces are large-an 800-seat dining hall, a 25,000-SF indoor/outdoor recreation facility, and dorms for 600 beds-technology throughout the complex promotes engagement and collaboration among students, who often team for sports, community outreach, and invention and academic competitions.

This LEED-Silver certified project also incorporates classrooms, faculty and staff offices, and gathering spaces into the residential complex.
