Texas State University, Student Recreation Center in San Marcos, Texas

Profile: The ultra-modern recreational spaces behind the Spanish Colonial exterior of this TSU building earned it 13th place on Best Student Recreation Centers in the country (BestCollegeReviews.org). The 15,000-SF renovation and 46,000-SF addition required a new Main Communications Room and IDR/TR. DataCom Design Group consulted from Programming through Contract Administration, additionally providing HVAC recommendations, equipment specifications, and Mechanical Noise Control criteria development. The Center contains the expected basketball and racquetball courts, training gyms, and exercise studios. Going much further, it also boasts an indoor pool (with wet classroom), an extensive weight room, a boxing studio, and a stunning two-story lobby with a rock climbing arch over the entry. Locker rooms, a lounge, a meeting room and offices complete the space.
